The club runs two teams, the first team competing in BUSA 2A having unfortunately been relegated from the Premier Division last year and we’ll be fighting hard this year to regan our Premier status. We also run a successful 2nd team who compete in one of the lower BUSA leagues and provide a good level of cricket for those players who are looking to push for the 1st team as well as those who are playing for experience.
The club have been very successful in the past and can count current county players Robert ‘Joseph (Kent) and Tim Murtagh (Middlesex) as former students as well as current Ireland International Andrew Poynter who left the club as recently as 2008.
To give a brief history: in 2008 the 1st team progressed from Premier 1A to compete in the BUSA knockout tournament which saw us travel sccessfully to play against Kent and Bristol only to be undone at home at the semi final stage by Leeds University who included several of the Leeds/Bradford UCCE players
in 2009 the 1st team won all of their three games after having two games called off due to bad weather. This however was not enough for us to gain promotion as this place went to Essex University (whom we beat comfortably) having won 4 out of their 5 games played. We were due to play Exeter in the BUSA knockout tournament at home however the weather again beat us and we were unable to travel to Exeter for the re-aranged match and had to forefeit.
in 2010 we lost many players who finished their respective courses and also lost a few players through injury. This meant we went into the season with many 1st year students and no student in the last year of their course. Unfortunately we were unable to retain out Premier Division status but will be gunning for promotion again this year when we compete in BUSA league 2A.
