The St Mary’s Drama Society exists to allow Students of all creeds, colours, shapes and sizes the opportunity to flex their creative muscles and get involved in a vast range of fun and challenging activities. The Society serves to allow Students to experience new opportunities and the chance to get involved with a vast range of activities.
Our main mission statement is to create high quality Theatre – pure and simple. Everyone is welcome to join and are free to get as involved as they want, whether they are either extremely passionate about Theatre and want to stage their own production, or simply want to experience a great atmosphere and enjoy great nights out. Everyone is treated equally, and there is zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind.
Activities range from staging full scale Theatre productions & other projects including Showcases and Comedy evenings, to venturing out on various group outings including organised Theatre trips, and regular Society Socials. Members have the opportunity to pitch Shows they’d like to see performed at the University at regular points throughout each Semester, and also have the opportunity to get as involved with those Productions as they wish, whether they wish to act, direct or write, or take a more technical role, ranging from technical operation, costume design, publicity or stage management. We strive to create a hard working but enjoyable atmosphere, and expect 100% dedication of all our members, as well as great enthusiasm and an even greater sense of fun.
